This year’s Royal Academy Summer Exhibition opens 9 June through to 17 August. No need to apply finishing touches to my framed print, but I’ll be going along to Varnishing Day to enjoy the historic spectacle…

…of the Creating Balance Project. 400+ people and the most buzzing the Aspex Gallery has ever been! Thanks to the organisers Claire Sambrook and Strong Island for making it such a great success. The exhibition runs until 16 March. Here’s a few photos from launch night…

Some images from the opening on Saturday. With 170 artists exhibiting there was a good turnout. The exhibition opens to the public today, and runs until the 4 January 2014. The dog pretending to be a parrot belongs to Emily Mayer.
