Stunning show @katherinejones_pp “Bright New” open @rableygallery until 18 October.
Lovely to be at the launch - I particularly enjoyed viewing the artworks up close in natural light to see the subtle variations in surface and texture of the paint and print media - beautiful. Melting Ice | Rising Tides Emma Stibbon’s incredible show @townergallery linking research over several residencies in the polar regions, with landscape local to Eastbourne. Such a treat to view up close the marks and surfaces of large scale watercolour drawings made with powdered aluminium and salt water- alongside works made in the field drawn off ships in wild seas and an impressive sculptural installation. The accompanying film with contributions from climate experts and @carolinelucasbrighton further emphasise the issues embodied in the work.
The show ends next weekend - I’m so happy I got to see it with my family, followed by Eric Ravilious in the permanent collection, Beachy Head, Charleston Farmhouse and John Burningham @johnburninghamofficial @mottisfontnt inspiring couple of days!🌟

In Rabley Gallery’s new exhibition Winter Haiku, December’s long shadows and the poetic elegance in Matsuo Basho’s seasonal Haiku have cast together a group exhibition with a Japanese sensibility.

The artist takes inspiration from travels and memories of places and experiences.

Powerful symbol of a nation, sometimes crystal clear at other times lost in haze and fog, symmetrical and timeless in the constantly changing light - Mount Fuji is a recurring subject in Tierney’s work since a visit to Tokyo.
